Automations
Confirmations, reminders, review requests, missed-call textbacks, and the message placeholders.
The built-in automations and what each one does
Dispatch Bros ships ready-made SMS automations — job confirmations, appointment reminders, missed-call text-back, review requests, and team notifications. Here is what each one does and how to turn it on.
Automatically ask for a Google review after every job
Turn on the review request automation: after a job is completed, Dispatch Bros texts the customer your smart review link. Happy customers land on Google; unhappy ones go to a private feedback form.
Send appointment confirmations and reminders
Three built-in automations cover the appointment lifecycle: a confirmation text when the job is created, plus 24-hour and 2-hour reminders — each can fire relative to the appointment or at a fixed time the day before.
Text back missed calls automatically
The missed-call follow-up automation texts anyone whose inbound call your team didn't answer, so the lead calls a competitor less and texts you back more. Turn it on in Automations → Workflows.
Placeholders you can use in automation messages
Every automation message can include placeholders like {first_name}, {date}, {time_frame}, and {review_link} — Dispatch Bros fills them in per customer and per job at send time. Full reference list.
Quiet hours and resend if no response
Quiet hours keep automations from texting customers at night — deferred messages send after the window ends. Resend if no response adds automatic follow-ups that stop the moment the customer acts.
See what an automation actually sent (Runs tab)
The Runs tab is the audit log for every automated message — sent, delivered, skipped, failed, or cancelled — with the exact message body, a plain-English reason, and retry/cancel actions.
Run an automation for some job sources only
Use the Source Filter in any automation's editor to limit it to selected job sources — or duplicate the automation to give each source its own message and timing.
