Install the desktop app for answering calls at your computer

Last updated: Aug 24, 2026

The Dispatch Bros desktop app is a dedicated Windows phone app for answering business calls at your computer. Every team member downloads it themselves from My Account — open your profile menu at the bottom of the sidebar, click My Account, and use the Desktop Dialer card's Download for Windows button. Once installed and signed in, calls ring even with no browser tab open, the window pops up on incoming calls, and the app updates itself automatically.

Before you start

  • A Windows 10 or Windows 11 computer.
  • Your Dispatch Bros login — any role can install it; dispatchers who answer the phones are the main audience.
  • A working phone setup: at least one number routed to a call flow that rings your team.

Step 1 — Download the installer

  1. Click your name at the bottom of the left sidebar and choose My Account.
  2. Scroll to the Desktop Dialer card and click Download for Windows. The card shows the current version and download size.

Step 2 — Run the installer

  1. Open the downloaded file.
  2. If Windows shows a SmartScreen notice, click More info, then Run anyway — the app then installs and starts on its own. The notice appears while the app's code signature is being finalized and is expected.

Step 3 — Sign in

Sign in with your regular Dispatch Bros email and password. That's it — the app is now your ringing phone on this computer.

How the desktop phone behaves

  • Running = ringing. While the app runs — even minimized — incoming calls ring here and the window pops to the front so you can answer. Your browser tabs stay quiet while the desktop app is live, so you never get a double ring.
  • Closed = off. Closing the window quits the app, and your browser takes calls back instantly.
  • It updates itself. No need to re-download new versions.

Troubleshooting

  • "No desktop release is available yet. Check back soon." — there is nothing to download right now; try again later.
  • The card says it couldn't load the desktop app details — a loading hiccup. Refresh the page to try again.
  • Windows blocked the installer — use More infoRun anyway on the SmartScreen notice (see Step 2).
  • Calls aren't ringing on the desktop — confirm you're signed in and set to receive inbound calls, and that your call flow actually rings your user (see team routing and answer groups). Remember the app must be running — check for it before assuming calls are being missed.
  • You want calls back in the browser — just close the desktop app; browser ringing resumes immediately.

FAQ

Do I need the desktop app to take calls at my computer?

No — calls also ring in an open browser tab. The desktop app is better for dispatchers because it rings even with no tab open and pops its window to the front on every incoming call.

Is there a Mac version?

The download is for Windows 10/11. On a Mac, answer calls in the browser instead.

Why does Windows warn me when I run the installer?

First run can show a Windows SmartScreen notice while the app's code signature is being finalized. Click More info, then Run anyway — the app installs and starts on its own.

How do I turn the desktop phone off?

Close the window — closing quits the app, and your browser takes calls back instantly. While the app is running (even minimized), it is your ringing phone.
