Complete 10DLC verification so your texts actually deliver
Last updated: Aug 24, 2026
10DLC is the US carrier registration that lets a business send texts from local (10-digit) numbers — without it, carriers filter or block your messages. In Dispatch Bros you complete it once, in the 10DLC Compliance Registration wizard: Stage 1 verifies your business identity (Brand Verification), Stage 2 registers your messaging campaign (10DLC Registration). Until both are approved, your numbers show Pending 10DLC and outbound texting stays off.
Before you start
Have these ready — they're checked against public records:
- Your legal business name and EIN (sole proprietors: use the phone-verification path instead).
- A working business website.
- A support email and support phone number.
- Your business address.
Step 1 — Open the wizard
The wizard lives in two places:
- Messages — until texting is configured, the Messages page shows "Complete Setup to Unlock Messages" with the registration card right below it. The same registration card stays on the Messages page while your registration is in review, so you can always get back to the wizard from there.
- Phone System — the 10DLC Verification tab tracks your campaign status once registration is submitted.
The card header reads 10DLC Compliance Registration — "Required by US carriers to enable outbound SMS on your numbers."
Step 2 — Brand Verification (your business identity)
On the Brand Verification tab, fill in:
- Legal Business Name — exactly as registered.
- EIN / Tax ID — format XX-XXXXXXX.
- Website, Support Email, Support Phone.
- Business Vertical and Entity Type (private company, sole proprietor, public company, or non-profit).
- Contact First Name / Contact Last Name and your Business Address.
- Click Save & Verify Brand.
While carriers verify you'll see "Stage 1 of 2 — Brand Registration Pending": "Telnyx and TCR are verifying your business identity. The campaign step starts automatically once the brand is approved."
Once approved, the tab shows "Brand approved — your business is verified" with a Continue to campaign button.
Step 3 — 10DLC Registration (your messaging campaign)
The campaign describes what you text and how customers opt in — this is the exact form carriers review.
- Click Use approved template to pre-fill every field with a proven, carrier-approved pattern (your business name, phone, email and site links dropped in automatically). Review and adjust anything specific to you.
- The form needs a use case, description, message flow, at least two sample messages, and a help message.
- Click Submit Campaign for Review. You'll see "Campaign submitted — carriers are reviewing it now."
While in review the form locks and shows "Campaign under carrier review" — typically 1–5 business days. The status updates live; if the reviewer requests changes the form reopens automatically. Look for "Stage 2 of 2 — Campaign Registration Pending" on the status banner.
Step 4 — Approval and what happens next
When both stages pass, the banner reads "Registration Approved" and the campaign tab shows "Campaign approved — SMS registration complete". Your numbers register to the campaign automatically — watch their SMS Status flip to Ready on Phone System → Numbers.
- Additional campaigns (each holds up to 49 numbers) are managed in Phone System → 10DLC Verification.
- Optional: once your brand is approved, a third-party vetting review can raise your daily carrier sending caps — the "Boost my limits — get vetted" card appears on the registration page.
Troubleshooting
- Brand rejected — fix the flagged detail and click Fix & Resubmit Brand. Rejection reasons appear on the status banner.
- Campaign rejected, brand approved — the banner reads "Campaign Rejected — Brand Already Approved": your identity is fine, only the campaign needs fixes. Correct the details and click Apply for a New Campaign — your numbers move to the new campaign automatically once carriers approve. If the only problem was on your website (opt-in page or privacy policy), you can appeal instead.
- Numbers still show Pending 10DLC after approval — assignment retries automatically; the Retry button on the Numbers tab forces a re-check. See What SMS Ready and Pending mean.
- Every carrier update, verbatim — the registration activity feed on the wizard page lists each Telnyx/TCR message about your registration.
FAQ
How long does 10DLC approval take?
Brand verification and campaign review each typically take 1-3 business days. The status card updates live in Dispatch Bros as carriers respond — no refresh needed.
Do I need 10DLC to receive texts?
No — inbound texts and voice calls work without it. 10DLC gates outbound texting: until your campaign is approved, numbers show Pending 10DLC and cannot send.
What if I don't have an EIN?
Choose the Sole Proprietor entity type — it's verified by a code texted to your personal mobile instead of an EIN. See the sole-proprietor guide in this help center.
My campaign was rejected. Do I have to redo everything?
No. If your brand is already approved, only the campaign needs fixes — the wizard reopens the campaign form so you can correct it and apply for a new campaign.
Does 10DLC cover toll-free numbers?
No — toll-free numbers use a separate Toll-Free Verification process, managed from the 10DLC Verification tab in Phone System.
