Name each phone number after its business listing

Last updated: Aug 24, 2026

Every phone number in Phone System → Numbers has a Name — a friendly label your team sees wherever the line appears. If you run several business listings (for example multiple Google Business Profile locations), give each listing its own number and name the number exactly after the listing. That way a ringing line, a text thread, or a review request always identifies the right brand.

Step 1 — Open the number's edit dialog

  1. Open Phone System → Numbers and find the number in the Number Inventory table. You can filter with the "Search numbers, names, sources..." box.
  2. In the Name column, click the pencil (Edit name). For a number that has no name yet, open the edit dialog from the pencil after setting a name, or use the one-click option in Step 3.

Step 2 — Fill in the name (and listing details)

The edit dialog holds everything that identifies the line:

  • Friendly Name — the label itself. The placeholder suggests "Main Line, Support, etc.", but for a listing-backed number use the listing's exact business name.
  • Source Label — an optional marketing tag like "Google Ads, Yelp, Facebook, etc."
  • Street Address, City, State, Zip — the listing's address. Dispatch Bros uses it on call surfaces so your team sees which location's line rang.
  • Click Save.

Step 3 — Or name it from its call flow in one click

If the number already routes to an inbound call flow, the Name column shows a plus button titled "Name same as inbound call flow" — one click copies the flow's name onto the number.

To do this in bulk: tick several numbers in the table, then use the Assign Sender & Name action in the selection bar. Each selected number takes the name of its own inbound call flow (numbers without a flow are skipped).

Step 4 — Clearing a name

Click the minus button (Clear name) next to the name. The app confirms with "Name cleared" and the column shows a dash again.

Troubleshooting

  • The plus button doesn't appear — it only shows for numbers that have an inbound call flow assigned and no name yet. Assign a flow first, or use the pencil to type a name directly.
  • Two listings share one number — that defeats the point of per-listing attribution. Buy a dedicated number for each listing, name it after the listing, and give it its own review link.
  • The name doesn't match what reviews show — review flows display the name of the number the customer actually called. Double-check you renamed the right line in the Number Inventory table.

FAQ

Why should the number's name match my Google Business Profile listing?

When each listing advertises its own number, the name on the number tells your team exactly which brand the customer called — and review requests can route to that listing's own review link. Name the number exactly like the listing so nothing gets mixed up.

Where does the number's name show up?

Anywhere Dispatch Bros refers to the line — the Numbers table, call surfaces, and review flows that display the business name for the number the customer actually dialed.

Can I set the name automatically?

Yes. If the number has an inbound call flow, the plus button in the Name column copies the flow's name onto the number in one click. There's also a bulk action that names every selected number from its own call flow.

How do I remove a name?

Click the minus button next to the name in the Number Inventory table. You'll see a 'Name cleared' confirmation.
