Port order status, LOA upload, and carrier comments

Last updated: Aug 24, 2026

Every port you start appears under Number ports on Phone System → Port Numbers, each with a status badge. Click a submitted port to open its status view: a four-step timeline, the Porting team messages thread from the carrier side, any action-needed banner with a Fix and resubmit button, and the safe-cancel reminder. Draft ports open back into the wizard so you can finish them.

What each status means

Cancelling / CancelledThe port is being, or has been, cancelled.

The timeline inside the status view walks four stages: In reviewWith your carrierDate confirmedLive on Dispatch Bros.

Your LOA and bill

The two authorization documents are uploaded in the wizard's Documents step (full porting walkthrough):

  • Recent bill or invoice — dated within the last 30 days.
  • Signed LOA — use Download pre-filled LOA to get one with your details already filled in, have the authorized account holder sign and date it (within the last 90 days), and upload it. The status view's document row shows a check mark for each uploaded document.

Fixing a flagged port (Action needed)

When the carrier rejects a detail, the status view shows an Action needed banner with the exact reason:

  1. Click Fix and resubmit. The wizard reopens in a trimmed Numbers → Account → Address flow with everything pre-filled — you only change the field the carrier flagged.
  2. Click Send corrected details. You'll see "Corrected details sent to the carrier — your port will be re-processed."
  3. The badge flips to Fix submitted while the carrier re-reviews. Need another change before they respond? Use Edit details again.

Carrier comments (Porting team messages)

The status view's Porting team messages section shows the conversation thread on your order — questions, warnings, and updates from the porting side, newest first, each timestamped. Dispatch Bros also raises a notification whenever a new comment arrives, so a carrier's question (or a cancellation warning) never sits unseen.

Cancelling a port

Open the port's status view and click Cancel this port request. The confirmation warns: "If it's already with your carrier, our team will handle the cancellation. This can't be undone." Cancelling a draft simply discards your saved progress.

Troubleshooting

  • The port sits at With your carrier for days — a few business days is normal. Check Porting team messages for any question addressed to you; an unanswered carrier question is the most common stall.
  • Multiple orders for one request — carriers sometimes split a port into several orders. The status view notes this; it's normal.
  • Tempted to cancel your old service early? Don't. The status view keeps the reminder pinned: "Keep your current phone service active." — wait for Live.
  • The number is Live but SMS isn't working — a freshly activated number still goes through 10DLC registration. See What SMS Ready and Pending mean.

FAQ

Where do I see my port's progress?

Phone System → Port Numbers lists every port under Number ports with a status badge. Click a submitted port to open the full status view with the timeline, porting team messages, and any action needed.

What does Action needed mean on my port?

Your carrier flagged something — usually a detail that doesn't match their records. Open the port, read the flagged reason, click Fix and resubmit, correct the details, and send them back for re-review.

Who writes the messages under Porting team messages?

The porting operations team handling your order with the carrier. Their questions and warnings appear there — including cancellation warnings — so check them whenever a port stalls.

Can I cancel a port after submitting it?

Yes — open the port's status view and use Cancel this port request. If it's already with your carrier, the team handles the cancellation; it can't be undone.

When is it safe to cancel my old phone service?

Only when the status reads Live — meaning the number is active on Dispatch Bros. Until then, keep your current service active or the number can be lost.
