See who holds the jobs behind each status tile
Last updated: Oct 19, 2026
The status tiles at the top of the Jobs page show how many jobs sit in each status. On a desktop computer, resting the mouse on a tile opens a small card with the people behind that number — and the In Progress tile goes one step further and lists the open jobs themselves, so you can see at a glance which job you still need to ask about.
Nothing about the tiles changed: a click still filters the list, and the cards never filter anything.
Every tile — technicians and their share
Hover any status tile (Estimate, Took Deposit, Completed, Cancelled, or a custom status) and the card lists each technician with two numbers: how many jobs they hold in that status, and how many jobs they had that day in total under the same filters — "21 of 38" — with the percentage and a thin bar in the status colour showing how much of their day that status is. The Total tile shows each technician's share of all jobs instead. Jobs with no technician appear last as Unassigned, and the footer counts the technicians.
Under the name, a small line splits the technician's jobs by status, in the same colours as the tiles: first the briefcase from the Total tile with the technician's total for the day — the same number as "of 38" — then one dot per status that has jobs, with its count. For the standard statuses that is yellow for Estimate, blue for In Progress, purple for Took Deposit, green for Completed and red for Cancelled; a custom status shows its own colour. Rest the mouse on a dot to read the status name. Statuses with no jobs are left out, and the dots always add up to the total.
Below that line, small chips show where those jobs are, by state: one green chip reading "all in WA" when every job is in the same state, otherwise one chip per state with its count, biggest first — "MA 7", "RI 5", "CT 4". A job whose service address has no state is counted in a dashed "no state" chip rather than dropped. The state comes from the job's own service address when it has one, otherwise from the customer's address.
The In Progress tile — the jobs themselves
Hover the In Progress tile and the card groups every open job under its technician. Each technician sits on a grey band with their initials and name, a round blue − button right beside the name, the count — "4 of 38 jobs", the open ones out of everything they had that day — and, on the band's second line, the same status line as the other tiles (the briefcase total, then the coloured dots) with the state chips on the right ("all in WA", or "MA 7", "RI 5", "CT 4"). A clear line separates one technician from the next.
Click the − to fold a technician's list out of the way: the band stays with its numbers and its states, turns light blue, and the button becomes a +. Click + to open the list again. Folds are remembered in your browser for the rest of the day and start fresh the next day.
Each job row shows the job number (click it to open the job), the customer, the time, the service, and the job's city with a small state tag:
- A job with a time window shows its start time with the APT mark, the same way the Scheduled column does.
- A job booked as ASAP has no time window, so the row shows ASAP and the time the job was created instead.
Each row has two actions:
- Copy puts the job's details on your clipboard — the same text as Copy details in the row menu — and the row shows a Copied mark.
- Ask for update texts the assigned technician asking for a status update, exactly like the row menu's action. The row first shows the message that will go out; click Send to send it or Cancel to keep it. After it is sent, the row keeps a green checkmark with the time you asked, the technician's header counts how many of their jobs were asked, and the footer counts what is still left to ask.
When the list is long it scrolls inside the card, and each technician's band stays pinned while you scroll their jobs — fold the technicians you are done with to reach the rest faster.
Good to know
- The cards only appear with a mouse or trackpad on a window at least about 1024 px wide. On a phone or tablet the tiles are exactly as before.
- A tile that shows 0 has nothing to break down, so it opens no card.
- The numbers in a card always match the tile, because both count the same jobs under the same filters (date range, job source, technician, ad source).
- You can also reach the card with the keyboard: tab to a tile to open it, tab into the card to use its buttons (the − / + included), and press Escape to close it.
- The state chips never change a job: they only read the address that is already saved on the job or the customer. A wrong state is fixed by editing that address.
FAQ
Does hovering change my filter?
No. Hovering only shows the card. Clicking a tile filters the list exactly as before, and clicking the active tile again clears back to all statuses.
Why don't I see the cards on my phone or tablet?
The hover cards are a desktop feature — they need a mouse or trackpad and a window at least about 1024 px wide. On touch screens the tiles keep working as filters, nothing else changes.
What do the two numbers on a technician's row mean?
The first is how many of that status the technician has; the second is all the jobs they had that day under the same filters. 21 of 38 on the Cancelled card means 21 of the technician's 38 jobs were cancelled, and the percentage (55%) says the same thing. On the Total tile the row shows the technician's share of all jobs instead. The small line under the name splits those 38 by status: a briefcase with the total, then a dot in each status colour with its count, the same colours as the tiles.
How does the card decide the order of the jobs?
The busiest technician comes first. Inside each technician, ASAP jobs come first (the one created earliest at the top), then jobs with a time window in order of their start time. Jobs with no technician are listed last under Unassigned.
What exactly does Ask for update send?
The same text message the row menu sends: Update? followed by the job number and the job's service address, to the assigned technician. You confirm inside the row before anything goes out.
The checkmark says Asked with a time — who else sees it?
Everyone on your team. The ask is recorded on the job itself, so a dispatcher on another computer, or someone who asked from the phone app, sees the same checkmark. Copied is only remembered in your own browser for the day.
What do the small state chips under a technician mean?
Where that technician's jobs in this status are. The state comes from each job's service address — the job's own address when it has one, otherwise the customer's. One green chip reading all in WA means every job is in Washington; several chips, biggest first, split them up (MA 7, RI 5, CT 4). A dashed chip such as 1 no state counts jobs whose address has no state, so nothing is hidden.
I folded a technician with the − button. Why is the list still folded later?
The fold is remembered in your browser for the rest of the day, so the card opens the way you left it. Click + to open the list again. Tomorrow every technician starts open, and the fold never affects anyone else's screen.
