When money hits your bank: payouts and balance

Last updated: Aug 24, 2026

The Payouts & Balance tab on the Payments page answers "where is my money right now?" with live numbers from Stripe: what's still clearing, what's cleared and ready, what's on the way to your bank, and everything already paid out. Money you collect flows in one direction — charge → pending → available → payout → your bank — and this tab shows each station plus a payout history you can open like a bank deposit slip.

Before you start

  • You need an owner or admin login with payments access.
  • Your Stripe account must be connected and past onboarding (Stripe setup) — otherwise the tab shows "Stripe account not ready".

Reading the money flow band

At the top, "Where your money is right now" shows four live tiles:

TileMeaning
Pending in StripeRecent charges the card networks are still settling (about 2 business days for US cards)
AvailableCleared money waiting for the next scheduled payout
On the way to your bankA payout Stripe has created — the tile shows the expected arrival date
Paid outLifetime total that has already arrived in your bank

Below the tiles, a sentence spells out your account's real payout schedule as Stripe reports it — how often payouts go out and how many business days card funds take to clear. New accounts should expect: "Brand-new Stripe accounts: the first payout usually takes 7–14 days."

Reading the payout history

The Payout history section lists your most recent payouts straight from Stripe with Created, Amount, Status, Arrival, Method, and Type columns.

Click any payout row to expand it — the drill-down lists every payment inside that deposit: date, type, customer, amount, tip, processing fee, net, whether it came from an invoice or Quick Collect, and who collected it. It's the "open a deposit" view for matching your bank statement to individual jobs.

Changing where payouts go

Bank account changes live on the Payments Settings tab — click Manage bank (or Manage bank & verification under Advanced) to update the account in Stripe's embedded panel.

Troubleshooting

  • "Stripe account not ready" — finish Stripe onboarding before balances and payouts can appear. The Manage bank button takes you there.
  • "No payouts yet" — normal for new accounts. Stripe usually creates the first payout 7–14 days after your first successful charge; until then collected money sits under Pending in Stripe.
  • A payout failed — the money returned to your Stripe balance automatically. Check your bank details under Manage bank and the next payout will retry with the corrected account.
  • The band looks stale after a charge — the tiles refresh automatically when a payment or refund lands; if a load fails you'll see a banner with a Retry button.
  • The tiles and your bank statement disagree by small amounts — compare against the drill-down's net column: what reaches the bank is each payment minus its processing fee (see processing fees).

FAQ

How long until a card payment reaches my bank?

Card funds typically clear inside Stripe for about 2 business days, then ride the next payout on your account's schedule. Brand-new Stripe accounts usually wait 7–14 days for their very first payout.

Why is my money showing as Pending in Stripe?

Pending means the charge succeeded but the card networks are still settling it. It moves to Available automatically, then gets included in the next payout — no action needed.

Can I see which payments were inside a bank deposit?

Yes — in the Payout history table, click any payout row. It expands to list every payment in that deposit with the customer, amount, tip, fee, net, and who collected it.

Who can see the Payouts & Balance tab?

Owners and admins with the payments view permission. The numbers are read live from Stripe on every load — Dispatch Bros never holds or moves this money.
