Get paid: connect your bank with Stripe
Last updated: Aug 24, 2026
To accept credit card payments in Dispatch Bros, you connect a Stripe account once from Payments → the Settings tab. Stripe is the payment engine: your customers' cards are charged into your own Stripe account, and Stripe deposits the money into your bank on its payout schedule. Setup is a single guided form — business details, identity verification, and your bank account — and most accounts are approved within minutes.
Before you start
- You need an owner or admin login — other roles don't see the Payments Settings tab.
- Have your business details handy: legal name, EIN (or SSN for sole proprietors), your address, and the routing/account number of the bank account that should receive payouts.
- Allow popups for the Dispatch Bros site — onboarding opens in a new tab.
Step 1 — Open the payment settings
- Click Payments in the left sidebar.
- Open the Settings tab. You'll see the Payment settings page with a card titled Accept Customer Payments.
Step 2 — Run the Stripe form
- Click Connect Stripe Account. A new tab opens with Stripe's secure onboarding form.
- Fill in your business information, verify your identity, and enter the bank account for payouts. Card and bank details go directly to Stripe — Dispatch Bros never sees or stores them.
- When you finish, Stripe sends you back to Dispatch Bros.
Step 3 — Wait for Stripe's review
After you submit, the status card shows "Submitted — Stripe is reviewing your information". The card re-checks the status automatically every 30 seconds — you can also click Check status now. Stripe emails you when the account is approved.
When the review finishes, the card switches to a green "Payments enabled" state. From that moment you can charge cards with Quick Collect, send payment links, and take card payments on invoices.
Step 4 — Manage the account later
Everything Stripe owns stays reachable from the same Settings tab:
- Advanced — click Manage bank & verification to change your bank account, finish identity verification, or handle tax details in an embedded Stripe panel.
- Open Stripe Express — opens Stripe's hosted dashboard in a new tab for disputes, tax forms, and full account history.
Troubleshooting
- "Your browser blocked the popup. Please allow popups for this site and try again." — onboarding opens in a new tab; allow popups and click the button again.
- The card says "Finish onboarding to enable payments" — you started but didn't finish the Stripe form. Click Continue setup to pick up where you left off.
- The card says "Stripe needs a bit more information" — Stripe reviewed your submission and has follow-up questions. Click Resume onboarding; it jumps straight to the fields Stripe needs.
- "Your onboarding session expired before Stripe could save your answers. Click Connect to pick up where you left off." — the Stripe link timed out. Start the button again; your progress with Stripe is saved.
- "Stripe has restricted this account" — Stripe has hard-blocked the account (the reason is shown on the card). Reopening onboarding will not fix this — contact support.
FAQ
Do I need my own Stripe account?
Yes — Dispatch Bros creates one for your business during onboarding. Your customers pay YOUR Stripe account, and Stripe pays out to YOUR bank. Dispatch Bros never holds your money.
How long does Stripe's review take?
Usually minutes to a few hours. While Stripe reviews, the status card on Payments → Settings checks back automatically every 30 seconds, and Stripe emails you when the account is approved.
Who can set up payments?
Only an owner or admin sees the Payments Settings tab. Dispatchers and technicians can be given collect permissions later, but they cannot run the Stripe onboarding.
Stripe says it needs more information — did something go wrong?
No — this is normal. Stripe sometimes asks follow-up verification questions after your first submission. Click Resume onboarding and it takes you directly to the missing fields.
