Technician performance: close rates and the technician report
Last updated: Sep 2, 2026
The Tech Performance filter sits at the end of the filter row on both the Finance page and the Jobs page. Nothing changes on the page until you click it: the dropdown that opens is the leaderboard for the date range you already have selected, one row per technician.
What each row shows
- closed — jobs closed with their money details (a finance record exists).
- cancelled — jobs whose status is Cancelled.
- open — jobs still in play (sent, but neither closed nor cancelled).
- sent — every job assigned to the technician whose scheduled date is inside the range.
- The meter on the right is the close rate: closed divided by sent — the knob sits further right (greener) the more of the sent jobs got closed, with the exact percentage beside it.
- With Finance access you also see the avg per job: the job total minus parts, divided by closed jobs — the same net the Finance page uses.
The list opens ranked by Jobs Sent — whoever had the most jobs in the range comes first. Only technicians with at least one job in the range are listed (widen the dates and the others appear), and the search box at the top finds a technician by name. Sort by switches the ranking to Close Rate, Avg per Job or Net Total (the money sorts appear only with Finance access). Technicians with nothing sent in the range sink to the bottom.
The dates come from the page's date filter, so "Today", "This Month" or a custom range in the filter row is exactly what the dropdown measures. The Finance page itself still filters its ledger the way it always has; the dropdown only reads the same range.
The technician report
Click any row to open that technician's report page. It has its own date filter (it opens with the range you came from), the same six numbers as tiles — Jobs Sent, Closed, Cancelled, Close Rate, and, with Finance access, Avg per Job and Net Total — and a table of every job assigned to the technician in the range, newest first.
- Use "Search by Job #" to find one job in the list — any part of the job number works.
- Narrow the list with All Statuses, All Job Types and All Sources — each shows how many of the technician's jobs match, so you can look at only the jobs still in progress, only one service, or only one lead source. The six tiles, the totals row and the exported PDF all recompute from the filtered list — take In Progress out of the status filter and Jobs Sent, Open and the close rate change with it. Clear filters brings everything back.
- Switch technician (or the ‹ › arrows beside it) moves to the next technician's report with the same date range, so you can walk the whole team without going back to Finance — type in its search box to jump to a name.
- With Finance access the table also shows each closed job's total, parts, net and tech share, with a totals row for the whole range.
- Export PDF downloads the report as a one-or-more-page PDF headed by the technician's name (no company letterhead), with the six tiles and the full job list — ready to send to the technician.
Back to Finance (or Back to Jobs) returns you to the page you came from.
On the mobile app
The same leaderboard and report live in the Dispatch Bros app.
- On the Jobs tab, the first pill under the date filter is "Performance"; on Finance, the "Tech Performance" pill sits beside the date filter. Both open the same sheet for the date range the screen already shows.
- The sheet lists every technician with a job in the range — sent, closed, cancelled and open, the close-rate meter and (with Finance access) the average per job. Sort with the Jobs Sent and Close Rate chips (plus Avg per Job and Net Total with Finance access), or type in "Search technicians…" to find a name. Idle technicians are counted at the bottom of the sheet rather than listed.
- Tap a technician to open their report screen (headed by the technician's name): the same tiles, its own date filter, "Search by Job #" and the Statuses / Job types / Sources filter chips — the tiles, the totals band and the export all follow the filters. Tap a job to open it.
- "Switch technician" (and the arrows beside it) walks the team A→Z without leaving the report.
- "Export PDF" downloads the same PDF the web app produces and opens the phone's share sheet — AirDrop it, save it to Files, or send it to the technician in a message.
Who sees what
- Anyone who can see the technicians list (owner, admin, dispatcher by default) can open the dropdown and the report and see the counts and the close rate.
- The average per job, net totals, tech share and the money columns in the report and its PDF appear only for roles with the Finance permission — the owner by default, or an admin you have granted it.
- Technicians do not see this filter.
FAQ
What counts as a job "sent" to a technician?
Every job assigned to that technician whose scheduled date falls inside the date range — the same date the Jobs page filters on. A job the technician was assigned but that was later moved to someone else counts for whoever holds it now.
What is the close rate?
Closed divided by Sent. Closed means the job was closed with its money details (it has a finance record); cancelled jobs count against the rate, and open jobs are still in play.
Why is the average per job lower than the job totals?
The average is net, not gross: the job total minus parts, divided by the number of closed jobs. It matches the Net column on the Finance page.
Why can't a dispatcher see the average per job?
Averages, net totals and tech share are Finance data, so they appear only for roles with the Finance permission (the owner by default, or an admin you have granted it under Roles & Permissions). Everyone who can see the technicians list still sees the counts and the close rate.
Where did the numbers on the Reports page go?
Nowhere — the Technician Performance tab on Reports is unchanged. The Tech Performance filter adds what that tab does not have: jobs sent, open jobs, the close rate, and a per-technician report you can export.
