What technicians see in the mobile app
Last updated: Aug 24, 2026
When a technician signs in to Dispatch Bros they don't see the full dispatch dashboard — they get a streamlined mobile view built for the field, with four tabs along the bottom: Today, All Jobs, Messages, and Profile. It shows only the jobs assigned to that technician, with tap-to-call, one-tap directions, and buttons to start and complete each job.
Before you start
- The technician needs a login: an email on their profile and a completed activation (add a technician).
- A technician added without an email, or as a shared subcontractor, can be assigned to jobs but cannot sign in.
The Today tab
Today opens on a swipeable stack of job cards for the current day, with a header counting jobs total, done, and in progress. Each card shows:
- The scheduled time window and a service-type badge.
- The customer's name.
- A tap-to-call phone number. With call masking on, the technician sees your masking number plus the job's extension instead of the customer's real number — and if no extension is assigned yet, the card says "No extension assigned".
- The address — tapping it opens Google Maps for directions.
- A short job description preview.
Actions on the card: View Details opens the full job; Start Job begins the visit (the card then shows a live In Progress timer); Complete opens the completion flow; a finished job shows Done. Below the cards, a Schedule list shows the whole day in order.
A day with no work shows "No Jobs Today".
The All Jobs and Messages tabs
- All Jobs lists the technician's assigned jobs beyond today, so they can look ahead or find past work.
- Messages gives them their conversation view for texting.
The Profile tab
Profile shows the technician's own stats — Today, This Week, and Total completed jobs — plus their account info and a Sign Out button.
If the technician has clock-in enabled, a Time Clock card appears here with Clock In and Clock Out buttons and a live "Current session" timer. Hours flow straight into payroll — see time tracking.
Troubleshooting
- The technician sees no jobs — check that jobs are actually assigned to them and scheduled for today; the Today tab only shows the current day's assigned jobs.
- The phone number shows a masking line, not the customer — that's call masking working as intended. The customer's real number is never exposed while masking is on; if the card says "Call via dispatch — masking number unavailable", the masking number couldn't be resolved and the tech should call through dispatch.
- The Time Clock card is missing on Profile — the technician's profile doesn't have clock-in enabled. Turn on the clock option in their Edit drawer on the Technicians page.
- The technician can't sign in — resend the activation email from the Technicians page, or add their email first if they were created without one.
FAQ
Can technicians see other technicians' jobs?
No. The technician view only shows jobs assigned to that technician — never the whole board, other techs' schedules, or company finance.
Can a technician call the customer directly?
Yes — the job card's phone number is tap-to-call. If call masking is on, the technician sees your masking number and a job extension instead of the customer's real number.
How does a technician start and finish a job?
On the Today tab, each job card has a Start Job button, and once the job is running, a Complete button that opens the completion flow. Finished jobs show as Done.
Why can't my technician log in at all?
They need an account with a login. A technician added without an email — or added as a shared subcontractor (Sub) — has no login by design. Add their email from Edit on the Technicians page to invite them.
